Acceptance into the program requires graduation from a medical school approved by the Council on Graduate Medical Education of the AMA. Foreign graduates must have standard ECFMG certificates and be eligible for permanent immigrant status as well as for licensure in South Carolina. First-year appointments are made through the matching plan of the National Resident Matching Program.

Selected applicants are interviewed by the Residency Selection Committee. All applications and interviews will be completed in time to allow both parties to meet NRMP deadlines; interviews are scheduled from mid-November through late January.

All application materials are received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Other correspondence should be submitted to the Internal Medicine Residency coordinator, Rachel Jones.
