Palmetto Health is the region's largest and most comprehensive not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system composed of six outstanding hospitals — Palmetto Health Richland, Palmetto Health Baptist, Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge, Palmetto Health Heart Hospital, and Palmetto Health Children's Hospital in Columbia and, in a joint venture with Greenville Hospital System, Baptist Easley Hospital in Pickens County. Palmetto Health hospitals are among the finest in the state, combining advanced technology and treatment, a wonderfully diverse and experienced staff, and compassionate care to meet our community's health care needs.

Centers of excellence include cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics, oncology, orthopaedics, psychiatry, nephrology, neonatology, neurology and neurosurgery, trauma and emergency medicine, and medical/surgical services. Each year, our hospitals treat nearly a half million patients, welcome nearly 6,600 babies into the world, care for more than 3,000 cancer patients, treat more than 80,000 pediatric patients, make nearly 33,000 home care visits, and accommodate more than 160,000 emergency visits. We operate more than 1,100 beds, have a 1,000-plus-member medical and dental staff and employ more than 8,500 people. Prominent services at Palmetto Health hospitals include a full-service Level I Emergency/Trauma Center, the only Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center in the Midlands, Cancer Centers and Breast Center, Women's Center, Total Joint Center, Behavioral Care, Wound Healing Center, Sleep Disorders Center, Hyperbaric Medicine Center, Pastoral Counseling centers, and five Palmetto SeniorCare locations for the elderly, and more. The Robotic Surgery Center is unique to the Midlands, and our Gamma Knife Center is the only one of its kind in the state.

Palmetto Health features 12 residency programs (Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Dental Education, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics and Surgery) and 10 fellowships (Critical Care, Emergency Medicine Ultrasound, Endocrinology, Forensic Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Geriatric Psychiatry, Infectious Disease, Pulmonary, Simulation Medicine and Sports Medicine) with a total of 246 residents and fellows in training.
