Acceptance requires graduation from an approved medical school by the Council on Graduate Medical Education of the American Medical Association. Foreign graduates must have standard ECFMG certificates and be eligible for permanent immigrant status.

First-year appointments are made through the matching plan of the National Intern and Resident Matching Program beginning July 1. All applicants are considered for interview by the Residency Selection Committee after receipt of an application, transcripts, three letters of personal recommendation, and a letter from the medical school dean. The deadline for applications is November 1. All application materials are received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
