Palmetto Health offers a total of 12 medical residency programs and a dental residency program at its two teaching hospitals, Palmetto Health 
Richland and Palmetto Health Baptist Columbia. Palmetto Health also offers nine fellowship programs. The University of SC School of Medicine is the major teaching affiliate.
Teaching and research attract nationally recognized physicians to Palmetto Health. Patients benefit from the latest treatment methods developed from our physicians' affiliation with national research efforts and from having physicians in the hospital 24 hours a day.
The University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Midlands Technical College and other schools provide training opportunities for medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, certified registered nurse anesthetists and other healthcare students.
