Welcome to Palmetto Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine! Thank you for your interest in our combined Internal Medicine/Pediatric department. The med/peds program is a fully accredited, four-year residency program designed to prepare physicians for practice or academic careers dealing with illnesses and disorders affecting the newborn, children, adolescents and adults. Graduates will have the clinical skills to deal with shared areas of interest by the two disciplines such as adolescent medicine, medical genetics, sports medicine, clinical epidemiology, medical decision-making and health care delivery.
Med/Peds residents are involved in all activities of the Internal Medicine and Pediatric departments. Furthermore, each month a combined conference is held with all residents in each department. Combined conferences offer education involving adolescent medicine, gynecology, sports medicine, rheumatology, dermatology and allergy/immunology.
