Thank you for your interest in the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program of Palmetto Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine. We offer an ACGME-accredited clinical infectious disease training. Our program is designed to prepare fellows for academic and/or clinical careers in Infectious Disease.
Our fellowship training is two years in duration. Training encompasses both clinical and research aspects of infectious disease, including hospital epidemiology, infection control and public health. In addition, our program is committed to developing the effective teaching skills needed to become an outstanding clinical educator. Trainees joining our program will care for a diverse population of patients at the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, the William Jennings Bryan Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center and our combined Infectious Disease/HIV ambulatory clinic. Depending on the individual's preference, we provide the opportunity to gain additional experience in pediatric infectious disease, public health, private practice infectious disease, transplant infectious disease, and international training.
We would like to announce the introduction of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program as a part of the fellowship curriculum. This program is dedicated to improving patient care individually and collectively by optimizing the use of antimicrobial agents at both Palmetto Health Richland and Palmetto Baptist Hospitals. The program will utilize teaching education as a key tool to achieve this goal, which will create several teaching opportunities for our students, residents and fellows to learn about antimicrobial agents and antimicrobial resistance. In the future, the program will also create research opportunities for trainees in the School of Medicine and College of Pharmacy.
Our mission is to provide an exceptional educational experience, helping you to grow into a competent and compassionate professional. For more information, please contact:
