Dear Residents and Families,
Welcome! The Palmetto Health family is so happy to have you here as you embark on the next phase of your training. My name is Sara Levine, and I am the incoming chair of the Palmetto Health Residents’ Auxiliary, a support group and extended social network of residents and fellows dedicated to providing opportunities for fun and fellowship outside of work. My husband, Josh Levine of the Internal Medicine residency program, and I are native to New York, but the friendly, inviting atmosphere has shown us that Southern hospitality is alive and well. You’ll find, as I have, that Columbia is a fantastic place to live, work and raise a family; it offers everything from the great outdoors and nightlife to family-friendly fun and cultural events. The Resident Auxiliary organizes a variety of social events every year such as holiday parties, picnics and trips to the zoo. We have also been working closely with different organizations to help in fundraising causes and other outreach opportunities. The Auxiliary also will be starting new programs tailored to the needs of spouses and children like book clubs, new mothers/ mommies-to-be groups and any others you may suggest. We also welcome any new ideas for gatherings, philanthropy or fundraising. Our hope is that through these events, out-of-town residents and their families will be able to make Columbia their new home away from home. The Auxiliary will also be supplying vital information to prospective and incoming residents to help you better adjust to your new city. We can provide information on real estate, schools, public parks, utilities and government services. If you have any questions, please email me! And I’d love to hear from anybody who is interested in helping plan Auxiliary activities. We have room for anyone who wants to get more involved… everybody is welcome!

Dear Residents and Families,
As the outgoing chair of the Residents' Auxiliary, I am sad to say goodbye to Columbia as my husband, Daniel Anderson (General Surgery, PGY-5), and our family will be moving out of state to his new practice this summer. But I'm also very excited to leave the leadership of the Auxiliary in the very capable hands of Sara Levine, whose friendliness and energy will serve the Auxiliary well.
Although I'll be wrapping up my tenure as chair over the next few months, I still look forward to meeting all of you as you onboard with Palmetto Health, and I have greatly enjoyed working with residents and their families – and making so many new friends – over these past six years.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to e-mail us. We will be happy to help you in any way.
