Alex Wagner, MD Sports Medicine Fellow
Dr. Wagner is a pediatric trained sports medicine fellow. After growing up in Indiana, he relocated to Columbia in 2008. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in biomedical engineering and then went on to complete his medical degree at USC School of Medicine. Staying in Columbia, he completed pediatric residency at Prisma Health–Midlands/USC School of Medicine in June 2019.

On choosing to continue his training in sports medicine, Wagner said, "The opportunity to remain in Columbia and have such a great fellowship opportunity was too great to pass up. As an alum, I am excited about the opportunity to provide close, hands on care for USC. Being the trainers’ first call for all USC sports really establishes the involvement as one of the team physicians for a big conference school. In addition to the broad coverage, the learning opportunities through attendance at national conferences, scheduled case presentations, didactics, and teaching opportunities really round out what I’m sure will be a great year in sports medicine."
