Family Medicine – Sumter

Curriculum

Family Medicine Residency Educational Experience

Solid teaching blocks in both ambulatory and hospital settings give residents what they need to be wise, effective, capable physicians in today's practice environment. We use a 13, 4-week block rotation system.

Most rotations occur at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, a three hundred bed hospital that is both a community hospital and a regional referral center. Residents also spend four weeks on inpatient pediatrics at Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital n Columbia. The third-year rural rotation occurs in Pinewood (population 500) and Bishopville (population 3100).
