How to Apply

Family Medicine Residency Application Information
Acceptance requires graduation from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the AOA Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation, or be certified by ECFMG.

First-year appointments made through the National Resident Matching Program beginning July 1. Applicants are considered for interview after receipt of:

  • Application and personal statement via the ERAS system
  • Transcripts and USMLE or COMLEX board scores
  • Two letters of personal recommendation
  • A medical school MSPE
The Department's Resident Selection Committee screens applicants according to the following criteria:
  • Passing scores on USMLE or COMLEX steps
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school within the last two years (exception for U.S. military personnel serving as general medical officers)
  • US Citizenship or unrestricted authorization to be employed in the US
  • (Valid ECFMG license, if IMG)
  • Two years U.S. clinical experience, if IMG
The deadline for applications is December 15. All application materials received through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We also strongly encourage all applicants to complete Step 2 of the USMLE or COMLEX and the clinical skills exam before January 1 of their fourth year.
