Berry A. Campbell, MD Associate Professor, Department Chair; Director, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Berry Campbell, MD, joined the faculty of University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2015 as the director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. Campbell completed his medical education at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After completing his residency and a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship, he served as the director of Genetics and Prenatal Diagnosis and director of Obstetrics Outreach Clinical Services in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kentucky. He later became the director of Central Kentucky High Risk Obstetrics/Kentucky One High Risk Obstetrics, where he served from 2002-2015. Dr. Campbell's special interests include prenatal genetics and diagnostic testing, as well as management of diabetes in pregnancy.

Matthew J. Lenhard, MD Assistant Professor, OB/GYN Residency Program Director

Matthew J. Lenhard, MD, is a practicing faculty and associate residency program director at Prisma Health and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He was born and raised on the west coast of the United States (California and Oregon), where he attended Oregon State University for his undergraduate degree. He then earned his medical degree at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, and completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at USC School of Medicine in Columbia. He spent several years in private practice in the mountains of Virginia prior to joining faculty in 2016.

Dr. Lenhard is board certified and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a member of the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and has a special interest in abnormal Pap tests, lower genital tract disease and vulvar disorders.

Judith Thompson Burgis, MD, received her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, and completed her residency at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. She served in private practice in Columbia for eleven years before her faculty appointment in 2004, and served as chair of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2011 until 2020. Her areas of interest include vulvar disorders, pediatric/adolescent gynecology, and maternal morbidity and mortality. She continues to maintain a limited practice in comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Burgis is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
