Biography
Dr. Holloway received his undergraduate degree, B.S. in biology, in 2003 from Oglethorpe University. He received his MD at the Medical College of Georgia in 2007. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine / Palmetto Health in 2010 and became board certified in Pediatrics in 2010. Dr. Holloway completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of South Carolina in 2011.

Dr. Holloway serves as medical director at the Department of Juvenile Justice. He is an attending physician at the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital Outpatient Center and the USC Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic.

Biography


Dr. Burgis joined the faculty of University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2004. She completed her medical education at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC, in 1989, and her residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC, in 1993. Prior to her faculty appointment, she was in private practice in Columbia, SC for eleven years. Dr. Burgis' areas of interest include vulvar disorders, pediatric/adolescent gynecology, and maternal morbidity and mortality. Dr. Burgis was named Interim Chair of the USC School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2010 and Chair of the Department in October 2011. She continues to maintain a limited practice in comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology. 

Dr. Burgis is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG), and the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SAAOG). She serves as President of SAAOG and as Vice President for ACOG District IV, South Carolina Section. Dr. Burgis is also a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and is a reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Dr. Burgis is actively involved in statewide efforts to improve birth outcomes and maternal mortality reporting in South Carolina.

Biography
Dr. Amrol graduated medical school magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 2001. After his residency, Dr. Amrol continued his education at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he completed a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology in 2003. Dr. Amrol joined the Division of Allergy and Immunology in 2003, where he is currently Director of the Division of Allergy and Immunology, and Associate Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine. Dr. Amrol's academic interests include asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, and immunodeficiency.

Biography
Dr. Emily Lowell joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2011 after completing her Ph.D. in School Psychology at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Lowell earned her bachelor of science degree in psychology, summa cum laude, from the University of Maryland. A Nationally and State Certified School Psychologist, Dr. Lowell's clinical interests are neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and ADHD. She also serves children with chronic health conditions, with an emphasis on pediatric HIV.

Dr. Fuerst was born in Sumter, South Carolina.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa and attended medical school at Tulane Medical School.

He trained in emergency medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

He became the director of pediatric emergency medicine at Florida before joining our department to become the director of the Children's Emergency Center in 1996.

Dr. Fuerst founded and directed the Wilderness Medicine rotation for its first decade of existence.

Biography
Dr. Whitney Brown was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude from Samford University with B.S. in Biology in 1998. Dr. Brown then attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, graduating with an M.D. in 2002. She then moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where she completed a residency in pediatrics at Palmetto Richland Children's Hospital/University of South Carolina School of Medicine, serving as chief resident her last year, 2005. Dr. Brown returned to the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham to complete a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology in 2008. For the past three years she has served as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Branch, affiliated with TC Thompson Children's Hospital, specializing in pediatric endocrine disorders. Dr. Brown now welcomes the opportunity to return to the University of South Carolina School of Medicine to serve as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, specializing in the treatment of pediatric endocrine disorders.

Biography
Dr. Talente completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky. After completing residency training he completed a Primary Care Fellowship and obtained a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Kentucky. He joined the Division of General Internal Medicine in 2010. Previously he worked at East Carolina University School of Medicine where he served as the Program Director of the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residency and Interim Chief of General Internal Medicine. He is currently the Director of the Internal Medicine Resident Clinic and has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and Division of General Pediatrics. His interests include resident and student education, educational evaluation, and issues related to transitioning emerging adults with chronic disease from pediatric to adult health care environments.

After serving as the Chief Resident of Pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine from 2006 to 2007, Jason Hawn joined the Department of Pediatrics as an assistant professor of clinical pediatrics in 2007.

A magna cum laude graduate of Wofford College, Dr. Hawn earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He completed a pediatric residency at the Palmetto Health/USC School of Medicine.

Dr. Hawn is board certified in general pediatrics with special interest in hospital medicine. He is also the Medical Director for the Down Syndrome Clinic.

Dr. Julie Anderson joined the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2007. Before her appointment to the Department of Pediatrics she was in private practice with Carolina Pediatrics in Columbia, South Carolina, for five years. She is board certified in pediatrics. 

Dr. Anderson completed her higher education at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina. Biography
Dr. Rebecca Widener is a native of South Carolina. Prior to medical school, she became involved with Family Connection of SC, a nonprofit for families who have children with special needs. Through them, Dr. Widener became interested in pediatric care. She attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina, then pursued a residency in pediatrics at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. After serving as chief resident her last year there, she went on to Birmingham, AL, to specialize in pediatric infectious diseases at The Children's Hospital, University of Alabama. Dr. Widener is excited to be joining Palmetto Children's Hospital and USC as a pediatric infectious disease specialist this year.

Wilson McWilliams, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He then completed a fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, which ranked third nationwide for ophthalmology by US News & World Report Best Hospitals in 2015-16, and attended Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for further subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. McWilliams specializes in many childhood eye problems including: strabismus (eye misalignment), amblyopia (lazy eye), esotropia (squinting), nasolacrimal disorders (tearing) and poor vision.

Biography
Dr. Craig Stuck spent 13 years in family practice before returning to the academic setting to train in child and adolescent psychiatry. As a family practitioner, his employers included Valley Family Health Care, Payette, Idaho, along with health care providers in Columbia, York, and Chester, South Carolina. He served for eight years as a medical missionary at Christian Hospital, Sahiwal, Pakistan, where he provided pediatric and women's care. He also worked with community health needs and a community-based drug prevention and treatment program in Pakistan. 

A graduate of Grove City College, Grove City, Pennsylvania, Dr. Stuck earned a doctor of medicine from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pa. He completed a family practice residency at St. Margaret Memorial Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., and a child and adolescent psychiatry residency at Palmetto Health Alliance, Columbia, S.C.

A recent addition to the Department of Neuopsychiatry and Behavioral Science in 2003, Dr. Stuck is board certified in general psychiatry and in child and adolescent psychiatry. His research involves approaches to promote greater understanding and cooperation between clergy and mental health professionals in caring for people with emotional problems.

Biography
Christopher G. Mazoue, M.D., attended Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and played football. After receiving his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana with election to the AOA honors medical society. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Mazoue then completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, under the guidance of renowned orthopaedic surgeons, James Andrews, M.D. and William Clancy, M.D. He is currently an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. 

Dr. Mazoue is a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery. His clinical expertise includes complex shoulder and elbow surgery, shoulder reconstruction, shoulder replacement and complex knee injuries. With extensive experience caring for athletes at all levels, Dr. Mazoue has treated patients from youth to professional leagues. Through USC Sports Medicine, he provides care for numerous local middle schools, high schools and colleges, He is the team physician for the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University and Benedict College. 

Dr. Mazoue is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has numerous publications and lectures locally, regionally and nationally.

Dr. Holloway serves as medical director at the Department of Juvenile Justice. He is an attending physician at the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital Outpatient Center and the USC Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic.
