Meet the Chief Residents

The Prisma Health–Midlands/USC SOM Pediatrics residency program has two chief residents this academic year, Mark Murray, DO, and Lauren A. Stout, MD. Medical students and residency applicants are encouraged to contact either of these program leaders with questions about medical school, faculty or residency in general.

Dr. Mark Murray grew up along the coast of New Jersey. He attended the University of South Carolina for his undergraduate degree, majoring in biology. He then attended Drexel University for a masters degree in medical sciences. He received hismedical degree from Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in New Jersey. He is now in his third year of residency training in pediatrics. In his spare time, Dr. Murray enjoys spending time with his family, friends and dog watching the Gamecocks play in the fall and traveling as much as possible.

Dr. Lauren Stout grew up in Kingsport, a small town in East Tennessee. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in chemistry, with a minor in Spanish. She returned to East Tennessee for medical school at Quillen College of Medicine. She is now in her third year of residency with plans to pursue a career in general pediatrics. In her free time, she loves to go on walks with her husband Jeremiah, and dog, Lucy. She likes to watch movies, read and explore Columbia. She is a big fan of the Gamecocks and loves going to sporting events.
